WordPress Developer (Canada)

We’re looking for a reliable and detail-oriented WordPress Developer to take ownership of the ongoing maintenance, updates, and troubleshooting of our WordPress websites. This role is not about building websites from scratch — it's about keeping our current sites running smoothly, securely, and efficiently. You’ll be the go-to person for handling day-to-day issues, plugin or theme updates, performance checks, bug fixes, and small content changes as needed. This is a part-time contract position with the possibility to become permanent in the future. The hours of work can vary up to maximum 20-25/hrs per week. What You Will Be Doing  

• Monitor and maintain existing WordPress websites
• Develop and optimize responsive designs to ensure a seamless display and user experience across various devices (desktop, tablet, mobile)
• Perform regular updates of WordPress core, themes, and plugins
• Troubleshoot and fix site issues including layout problems, plugin conflicts, or performance lags
• Ensure backups, security patches, and uptime are consistently maintained
• Optimize websites for speed and performance
• Provide technical support for internal teams or clients regarding website-related issue
• Document fixes and maintain a change log

Must-Have Qualifications & Requirements:

• Solid experience working with WordPress (core, themes, plugins)
• Proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Familiarity with cPanel, FTP, and common hosting environments
• Experience with security and backup tools (e.g., Wordfence, UpdraftPlus)
• Ability to troubleshoot plugin conflicts and resolve website errors
• Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
• Comfortable working independently and responding quickly to issues

Nice To Have  

• Experience with staging environments and version control (e.g., Git)
• Knowledge of SEO basics and best practices
• Familiarity with page builders like Elementor or WPBakery
• Basic knowledge of Google Analytics, Tag Manager, or Search Console
